We are very proud to announce that casting has begun for our recent project: “Wild Bill: In Search of Fool’s Gold”. Our latest project is an independent, short film documentary on the life of Wild Bill Hickok from his birth in Troy Grove, Illinois to assassination within the walls of Saloon Number 10 in Deadwood, South Dakota. This short film is our most ambitious project yet. Veteran Film Productions was provided exceptional access to Deadwood’s Adam House, Hume-Carnegie Museum, Fort Hays State Historic Site, Abilene Old Towne, LaSalle Historical Society, I&M Canal, Wilson Creek National Battlefield, Greene County Archives & Records Center, as well as secured the rights to two of Andy Thomas’ paintings featured in True West magazine!
Project details are as follows:
Logline: A former spy and womanizing gunslinger turns lawman to bring justice to the frontier while seeking a fortune in poker. Following forty years of adventure, the “deadliest man with a gun” faces media-exploitation, vagrancy and assassins seeking his reputation.
Style: An expository documentary featuring first-person, in-character narration in the spirit of Ken Burns’ The Civil War. This short documentary features a visual motif including footage of historical sites inter-cut with animated stills and re-enactment footage.
